Behind The Scenes: myIDwear Development
When I first joined F&M, I sat across a table at the State Line Diner in Mahwah, NJ and listened to the story of F&M from it’s founder and owner Frank Flanagan. Frank spoke passionately about how he and his wife, Michelle started the business in 1980 and work tirelessly to grow their idea into a corporation that now employs nearly 100 people. He summed the reason for F&M’s success into one statement, “We listened to our customers and went out and provided them with what they needed.” That statement has guided F&M’s vision over the last 30 years and it was what sparked the idea for myIDwear.
The black and white clip art idea books aren’t cutting it for today’s fashion conscience consumer. Many of our customers do not have the time or resources to develop their own designs, so they make their way to booths at trade shows and nervously purchase art that is a little bit better than the black and white clip art provided by heat transfer suppliers. We decided to provide professionally developed design templates free of charge to our customers. To take it a step further we wanted to provide rich, professional sales tools that our customers could use to sell in their market place.
Our team of artists and marketing professionals used customer feedback provided by our account management team to design cutting edge artwork, add new stock colors and design the print and digital versions of the myIDwear sales catalog. The myIDwear sales catalog and website contain no mention of the F&M Expressions name so that you can confidently use these tools to show your customers your custom apparel capabilities.
Now that we’ve launched, the myIDwear program is in your hands. We want your feedback. Let us know what we missed and what you need. Over the next year we will provide opportunities to get your input so that our new and revised tools meet the demands of your marketplace. In the meantime, feel free to email me at nathan@fmexpressions.com or share your feedback with your account manager.
